Childrens Corner
During the School Holidays we usually have some families with children, staying with us.
The children find it great fun taking part, under supervision, in the day to day care of our growing menagerie, many now coming back year after year to visit their favourite animal.
Cookie, the rabbit is as friendly as ever and just loves to be cuddled by our guests, young and old alike. She has three guinea pigs for company – Cuddles, Fluffy and Honey who all live in the petting area with her. [Sadly “Rosie” died recently and I know will be missed by a lot of our regular guests]
Our Bed and Breakfast guests enjoy having eggs from our own chickens for their breakfast.
Children are welcome to help feed the chickens and to collect the eggs at about 5.00pm each day. During the winter, sadly “Lenny” our cockerel died. We welcome our new cockerel, “Muppet”, to the flock. He has been hand reared on a nearby smallholding, and is so far proving to be friendly and loves to have cuddle and be stroked.
For the more adventurous, we have our two goats, Billy and Jerry. Billy is especially friendly and really enjoys a fuss (and perhaps a titbit) when he is out of his stable. Jerry as usual is still a tries our patience.
Sidney and Lola our Schnauzer and Dachshund are also very friendly and have helped many children overcome their fear of dogs
